Flash Floods

Around thirty (30) more or less families had been affected on the recently flash floods last June 6, 2011 at about Nine o Clock ( 9:00 pm) in the evening, sources said...Twenty Nine (29) houses were hit, but only four (4) of these were carried by the current of water, due to heavy rains resulted to an overflow of Bulatukan River..

This is not the only flash flood that happened in the area. It was learned that sometime in rainy season in 2005, that was seven years ago a flash flood occurred.. During that time, a recommendation was done to build a dike along the river bank, which was estimated to cost around ten million of pesos ( 10,000,000.00) more or less.. but as time passed by.. when there were no events a such, the plan was forgotten.. It is then recently that the previous move become fresh in the minds of the once victims.. There was a promise to build a dike, but was not fulfilled, instead a budget for dike was diverted to farm to market roads.. It was then jokingly termed as ( farm to pocket road...) but there were no basis of such.. reliable sources disclosed that there were no such allocated budget from higher level that had been poured down in the municipality...

The municipal government of Magsaysay, after evaluating the damages had allocated funds in the formed of relief goods and light materials.. It was observed that aside from the four house made of light materials that were totally wrecked, personal belongings and kitchen utencils of the rest houses that were hit, were also damaged...

On the other hand, mostly in some irrigable areas in then barangays Tacul, New Ilocos, San Isidro, Lower Bala, San Miguel, Balnate also suffered minor damages.. Some uprooted seedlings were damages or carried by water from rice canal that overflowed.. The misfortune could have been avoided if they had build a proper storage or had protect it from possible overflows due to continues rains.
